Rural Health Provider Partnership Grants

With these grants, rural health care providers and their communities collaborate to address their unique health and wellness challenges. The grants are offered jointly by the BCBSND Caring Foundation and the Center for Rural Health at the University of North Dakota, School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Congratulations to our 2021 awardees:

Quentin N Burdick Memorial Healthcare Facility (Belcourt, N.D.) developed a food pharmacy model for Native American children to encourage healthy eating habits, food positivity and food security with the goal of positively impacting generational health.

CHI St. Alexius Health (Carrington, N.D.) built a playground in the county park to entice families to get outside and socialize, improving their physical fitness and emotional well-being.

Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center (Elgin, N.D.) hosted a community fitness event on the importance of exercise for cardiac and diabetic health. It included a 5K, education and screening.

Beyond Boundaries Therapy Services (Fargo, N.D.) will bring mobile therapy services to families in rural areas. This will help parents who currently face barriers to taking their children to therapy in larger cities.

Altru Health Foundation (Grand Forks, N.D.) will support a fundraising effort to ease the burdens of cancer patients who travel hundreds of miles several times a week for care.

St. Gerard’s Community of Care (Hankinson, N.D.) purchased a new playset for their playground.

St. Aloisius Medical Center (Harvey, N.D.) added a toddler-appropriate section to existing playground equipment in Harvey’s Centennial Park.

Sakakawea Medical Center (Hazen, N.D.) purchased equipment for their local childcare center.

Nelson County Health System (McVille, N.D.) funded a community playground.

Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd (New Rockford, N.D.) will offer residents a safe way to view local church services, sporting events and concerts using technology.

Mountrail County Health Foundation (Stanley, N.D.) hosted a leadership program for management designed to build confidence.

Northland Health Centers (Turtle Lake, N.D.) funded events, programs and education on better food choices, hydration, sleep habits and exercise.

CHI St. Alexius Health (Williston, N.D.) funded engagement, education and new equipment for employee health and well-being.
