Enhancements for Members

ID card

You should have received a new member ID card with a new member ID number. You'll need to bring this ID card to future appointments so your claims get processed accurately.

Online member portal
You should see a new experience, including new look and different features.

Benefit materials
You should have received a new, electronic version of your summary plan description and explanation of benefits (EOBs) when you register for the new online portal. If you'd rather, you can request paper copies at that time.

Phone number/phone system
To contact us, use the number listed on the back of your new ID card. You'll find a new automated phone system that quickly allows you to request an EOB, pay your bill, check claims status, check eligibility, hear out of- pocket information, request a new card or update your information.

New claims processing system
Behind the scenes, your claims will be processed using a new efficient and proven claims processing system. You don't need to take any action, this should be seamless.


Changes in Your Coverage

Dental
If you have dental coverage, you'll notice we've partnered with nationally-renowned United Concordia Dental for broad access to dental care options. Depending on your benefits package, your dental coverage options may change.

Vision
If you have vision coverage, Vision Service Plan (VSP) will now administer your benefits. The vision plans available to you may change.

How does the system upgrade impact members?

BCBSND changes to how we support your health and well-being. A large portion of these changes will improve how we cover and manage your benefits for medical, dental and vision care.

Where you will notice a difference is the ease for which you will be able to manage your benefits on our revamped online member portal.

Likewise, we've partnered with Vision Service Plan (VSP) and United Concordia Dental (UCD) to help us manage vision and dental benefits. These benefits administrators are nationally-renowned companies that broadens your access to care options. Depending on your benefits package, your dental and vision offerings may change.

Dental Provider Directory
To view a list of in-network dentists, visit our Find a Doctor page and click on "Find a Dentist." Enter your ZIP code or city and state and select any other search criteria and click "Search."

Vision Provider Directory
To view a list of in-network vision providers, visit our Find a Doctor page and click on "Find a Vision Provider." Enter your ZIP code or city and state and select any other search criteria and click "Search." Please note that the directory displays a limit of 50 providers from nearest to farthest the location you enter.
