Information for Vision Providers
We are committed to provide our members with the highest quality products and services at a competitive price and benefit level. To accomplish this, we aligned our vision products to meet national industry standards for vision coverage.
Vision Product Administration
BCBSND partners with Vision Service Plan (VSP) as the network provider for vision care services. VSP provides network management (provider contracting), claims administration and member/provider customer service. Our products remain Blue branded and we partner with VSP to develop and market vision products.
VSP and BCBSND Partnership
BCBSND vision benefits are administered by VSP. VSP is the in-network provider for vision care products and eyewear for our groups.
Medical-related vision benefits will continue to be offered under BCBSND medical benefits. Your existing agreement with BCBSND will not be terminated because of the transition.
Process for Out of Network (OON) Providers
VSP created a separate number for OON providers in North Dakota to utilize to access patient information.
- Please call: 1-844-830-7715.
- When prompted, you will need to enter the member's Unique Member Identifier (UMI). The patient should have this information, if they do not have this information they will need to call BCBSND or log-in through the member's web portal.
- You will have the option to use self-service or request to be routed to a Customer Service Representative (CSR)
Note: This phone number is for OON providers in North Dakota only. All other inquiries will receive a standard messaging and the call will be disconnected.
