Vision ID cards
Since employees will not receive vision ID cards upon migration to the new BCBSND platform, we’ve communicated with both vision providers and members on how to use their new vision plan.
Employees can use one of the following options to identify themselves to a vision provider:
- Full unique member identifier (UMI*)
- Last 4 UMI*, plus member last name, member first name
- Last 4 UMI*, plus member last name, member first name, DOB
- Last 4 UMI*, plus member last name, DOB
* UMI is the 12-digit numeric portion on the medical or dental ID card.
For security reasons, employee Social Security numbers will not work for member lookup.
Note: If an employee has vision coverage only, they will receive a letter with their UMI number. For questions, please direct them to BCBSND Member Services at 1-844-363-8457.
Call wait times
While greatly reduced, we continue to experience longer wait times than our members are accustomed to. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we are continuing to work in reducing time on hold.
Get tips on the new employer portal
The new employer portal is a one-stop shop for managing your organization’s BCBSND coverage—things like managing your employee enrollment, accessing reports, paying your bill online and much more. Learn about all you can do in the portal in the downloadable training guide.
If you need assistance navigating the employer portal, or have trouble getting in, please reach out to our Portals team at 1-800-544-8467 or portals@bcbsnd.com.
No more quarterly prescription statements
Members will no longer receive quarterly prescription statements and have been instructed to view their EOBs in the online member portal. For the best experience, members should use the Chrome or Firefox web browsers.
