Resources on COVID-19 and how BCBSND is responding to help protect all North Dakotans

Ambulatory Surgery Centers

On April 1, 2020, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) is implementing the requirement for Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) to bill facility-related services rendered to our members on a UB-04. Previous communication indicated the switch was targeted for Oct. 1, 2019, however delays resulted from additional programming needing completion to address this change. Starting April 1, 2020, claims submitted to BCBSND by ASCs on the CMS-1500 Claim Form will be rejected requesting the claim be submitted on the correct claim form. This requirement applies to all ASC claims (including Colorectal and Women’s Way programs); the only exceptions to this requirement will be when BCBSND is the secondary or tertiary payer on the claim and the primary payer(s) require submission on the CMS-1500 Claim Form.
