COVID-19 Provider Update

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) is extending coverage for the following services through December 31, 2020:

COVID-19 Treatment
BCBSND is waiving out-of-pocket costs for the treatment of COVID-19, including hospital stays and outpatient treatment. This applies to BCBSND fully insured members. Out-of-pocket costs include incremental medical co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance charges related to the treatment for COVID-19 and will be paid at in-network rates.

BCBSND is increasing access to prescriptions by allowing pharmacies to refill prescriptions earlier than typically allowed. In addition, most plans allow members to fill maintenance medications for up to a 90-day supply through local or mail-order pharmacies.

To ensure members have the medications they need on hand, BCBSND allows pharmacies to waive “refill too soon” limits on prescriptions.

DME Supplies
DME requests for additional supplies outside the normal quantity and frequency limits during the COVID-19 emergency are updated to allow members up to an additional 90-day supply through local or mail-order suppliers.
