Federal Employees Program (FEP) COVID-19 Updates Revised

The COVID-19 Federal Public Health Emergency (PHE), declared under Section 319 of the Public Health Service Act by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will be expiring at the end of day May 11, 2023.

For FEP members, regular benefits will apply, and FEP will no longer waive cost share and prior authorization for COVID-19 diagnostic tests and treatments starting May 12, 2023.

A decision was made on May 1, 2023, by FEP to continue coverage of over the counter (OTC) COVID-19 self-test kits until further notice. This will continue the service to allow eight OTC self-test kits per member, per calendar month. To avoid members having to pay out-of-pocket costs, members must go to an in-network retail pharmacy, give the pharmacy their FEP Member ID card, along with the testing kits, and ask that the claim be filed with insurance.
