Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) wants to keep providers informed about recent news regarding possible changes for patients who have Medicaid and Medicaid Expansion coverage. Providers may start receiving questions from patients regarding next steps for future appointments if their coverage changes.
Due to the federal 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act, signed into law in December 2022, states are required to initiate Medicaid eligibility renewals for people whose coverage was temporarily extended due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, which began in March 2020.
In the coming months, Medicaid and Medicaid Expansion members will receive a letter with information about their coverage from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) of North Dakota. The letter may include a renewal form or a request for more information to determine eligibility. It is important members have reported any changes to their mailing address, phone number or email address to receive this important information.
Members can be directed to hhs.nd.gov/StayCoveredND for more information regarding eligibility review and how to update their contact information. This webpage will be updated regularly with important news, resources and other information.
The eligibility review process for 130,000 North Dakotans enrolled in Medicaid and Medicaid Expansion will start April 2023. This process will take 14 months to complete.
Providers should continue to verify eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services.
