Medicaid Expansion Discharge Notification for Inpatient Hospital Stays

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) wants to inform Medicaid Expansion Providers that members of the Medicaid Expansion population will receive follow up call attempts within seven (7) days of an inpatient discharge. This process establishes a mutually beneficial partnership with our members and providers to help improve adherence to the established treatment plan from an inpatient hospital stay.
 
To assist with these calls, submit the discharge date and discharge instructions on all inpatient discharges. To add a discharge date and discharge instructions, modify the existing inpatient authorization (precertification) admission case on your Availity Essentials auth/referral dashboard. The information can also be faxed through the precertification fax line
1-701-277-2971 if you are unable to complete the request through Availity Essentials.
 
The Medicaid Expansion Provider Manual will be updated within the next 45 days.
