Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) would like to remind Medicaid Expansion providers of the required timeframe for new claim submissions. All professional (837P) and institutional (837I) claims must be filed electronically, unless noted otherwise and received within the following timeframes:
- One hundred eighty (180) days of the date of service
- One hundred eighty (180) days from the enrollee’s retroactive coverage notification
- Three hundred sixty-five (365) calendar days from the date of service for claims involving third-party liability
Claims submitted outside of these timeframes will be denied unless BCBSND or its subcontractors created the error. For more information regarding timeframe requirements for new claim submissions, claim corrections, and/or appeals, review our Medicaid Expansion provider manual.
