Eat 'super foods' to fight disease

July 24, 2013 Denise Pinkney

There is no magic potion, but certain super foods can help you control your weight, battle diseases and stay powered up to tackle every day. Super foods are defined as items that are rich in nutrients, filling and easy to include in meals.

Super foods contain antioxidants like beta-carotene, lutein, lycopene, selenium and vitamins A, C and E that protect your cells against free radicals — which play a role in cancer, heart disease and other diseases.

Add these super foods to your grocery list and try to incorporate a wide variety of other nutritious foods and regular physical activity. Strive for balance while incorporating these super foods in your meals.
