Obama announces policy change for plans slated to be discontinued
President Barack Obama recently announced that health insurance companies may be able to allow their members to stay on plans in 2014 that do not meet Affordable Care Act requirements, with state insurance regulator approval. This means that some Americans who have received insurance plan discontinuation letters may be able to keep their current plans and may not need to move to a new plan starting on January 1, 2014.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota is currently gathering more information about how this will affect its members. We will reach out to members when we are able to provide them with clear options.
