CaringforKids Grants support initiatives aimed at preventing childhood obesity and encouraging healthy lifestyles at an early age.
A successful grant will incorporate proven, evidenced based approaches and demonstrate how funding will positively impact kids where they live, learn and play.
There is no deadline to apply. Applications are accepted year-round.
Examples of evidenced based programs include but is not limited to:
Accept the Challenge/Operation Tone-Up
10-week, program to increase nutrition knowledge and improve student physical health. Daily classroom lessons through curriculum.
Physical education program where kids drum on exercise balls
Rock Climbing walls for schools. Also sell challenge courses, indoor jungle gyms, and outdoor climbing
Fuel Up To Play 60
In-school nutrition and physical activity program, partnership with the National Dairy Council and NFL
Videos that get kids moving
Organ Wise Guys
Puppets about organs that help teach about nutrition and physical activitiy
Organization that provides resources on physical activity and nutrition
Sources of Strength
A best practice youth suicide prevention project designed to harness the power of peer social networks to change unhealthy norms and culture, ultimately preventing suicide, bullying, and substance abuse.
Online lessons that get kids moving while they learn
Yoga/mindfulness for K-8
Action based learning labs, kinesthetic classroom furniture, kidsfit cardio and strength equipment, obstacle courses & climbing walls
