The Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) Caring Foundation is excited to announce that the 2021 Rural Health Grant Program has extended the due date for accepting grant proposals. The original proposal submission deadline of Jan. 5 has now been extended to allow the providers and communities more time to apply as they continue to handle additional workloads with the pandemic. The deadline to apply is now 5 p.m. CST Thursday, Apr. 29, 2021. The funding period is May 15, 2021, through May 15, 2022.
The program, a partnership with the Center for Rural Health at the University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine & Health Sciences, seeks proposals that benefit rural North Dakotans and their communities by encouraging them to embrace health and wellness through physical activity.
Examples of eligible programs and activities include:
- Sponsoring a community fun run/walk.
- Providing equipment for a playground.
- Creating a worksite wellness program.
- Creating a community fitness center.
- Planning a health-related workshop.
The Caring Foundation will make a total of $40,000 available for the 2021 Rural Health Grant Program, expected to be distributed in amounts of $2,500 to $5,000 to eight to 16 recipients. Applicants may request funds for more than one program or activity as part of one request.
