Cindy Gohner has joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota as director of Quality Management in Health Network Innovation.
As a result of the Affordable Care Act, BCBSND and other health insurers nationwide are moving to a quality outcome-based model. Gohner is responsible for overseeing and managing the activities of Quality Management, working in partnership with MediQHome Quality Program, Health Informatics, Medical Review, regulatory and compliance activities and external partnerships and process improvement activities within the Health Network Innovation division. This includes activities to identify and resolve issues that affect the quality of patient care and services and measure improvements in medical outcomes.
She began her nursing career as a registered nurse at Jamestown Hospital, now known as Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC), where she has worked for the past 31 years. Since 2005, Gohner has served as its vice president of clinical services/chief nursing officer. During her tenure, she served as a key contributing member and collaborated with architectural and construction teams to design and build a replacement, state-of-the-art, critical access hospital, which opened in July 2011 and the Jamestown Clinic Building, also located on the JRMC campus, which opened in January 2013.
Born in Devils Lake, N.D., Gohner grew up in Jamestown, N.D. She received her nursing diploma at the Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing in Bismarck, N.D. Gohner earned a bachelor of nursing degree from Jamestown College and an MBA from University of Mary in Bismarck.
