North Dakota Businesses Promote Wellness Through Walk Across America Challenge
FARGO – West River Health Services (WRHS), in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota's Caring Foundation, is hosting the "Walk Across America" event in Hettinger this summer. From July 22 through August 16, teams of coworkers at WRHS and other Hettinger area businesses are encouraged to participate in the competition. Prizes will be awarded to the highest stepping team and the six individuals with the most steps. Participants can track steps using a provided pedometer, or another tracking device they own, like a smart watch.
Interested participants in the competition should contact Patty Ness by July 10 at 701-567-6177.
BCBSND Caring Foundation believes that when individuals take the time to get up and walk around and break up long periods of sitting, they are making a great choice, whether or not they are competing in a step counting contest. Event sponsors are hoping that the four-week competition will encourage the community to continue to keep it up.
"West River Health Services is excited to promote wellness in our community. We encourage our employees and local businesses to take part and enjoy the comradery and health benefits gained through physical activity," says Patty Ness, Community/Employee Health and Wellness Coordinator at WRHS.
