High call volumes

Our member and provider services may be experiencing higher than normal call volumes from 12/22/25-1/9/26 due to a large number of staff being out of office.  We encourage you to utilize alternative forms of communication including secured messaging through online Member Services and Availity Essentials Provider Portal.

Impersonation Scams Reported

Members of BCBSND are reporting instances of callers posing as BCBSND representatives. The caller says they are asking questions for a "survey" on provider satisfaction. In some cases, the caller asks for personal information (member's date of birth, etc.) and sometimes hangs up mid-way through the call.

BCBSND calling procedures
BCSBND does ask for personal information over the phone to verify your identity, such as your name, date of birth, address or last four digits of your Social Security Number (SSN). However, BCBSND representatives will never:

  • Ask for your full SSN
  • Ask you to leave personal information on a voicemail
  • Ask for passwords

If you receive a call from a representative claiming to be from BCBSND and it seems suspicious, we encourage you to hang up. If you want to report the issue, you can call the number on the back of your member ID card or report it to the North Dakota Attorney General's office at https://attorneygeneral.nd.gov/consumer-resources/scam-prevention.
