FARGO, N.D. — Lisa Henry has joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) as a medical director in the Health Network Innovation division.
Henry is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for quality management activities including quality monitoring, fraud, waste and abuse, physician reporting and medical policy development. She will also provide clinical support for Utilization Management, Case Management and Disease Management.
Before joining BCBSND, Henry worked as associate chief of medicine at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Fargo. She provided oversight of patient care and ensured performance and quality standards were met for the hospital, emergency department and specialty medicine.
She has held several positions at the VA, including acting chief of medicine and acting community based outpatient clinic director, chief of hospital/emergency department and hospitalist. Henry has an extensive background in quality improvement, leading a team that streamlined patient flow for the hospital and identified $1.6 million in potential savings. She has also coached a team in the implementation of patient centered medical homes.
Henry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of North Dakota (UND) in Grand Forks and a doctor in medicine from the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed an internal medicine residency at UND and participated in the Veterans Affairs quality scholars fellowship.
