The North Dakota Caring Foundation has been awarded $2,000 from the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation, through its annual Community Grant Round.
The award will help support the Caring for Children program, which provides access to primary and preventive medical, dental and mental health services to children from working families that do not qualify for government-funded programs and cannot afford private insurance.
The Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation is a community foundation established in 1960 to support the charitable and philanthropic needs of Cass and Clay counties. The Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation currently manages more than 200 funds, with total assets of more than $50 million.
Founded and administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND), Caring for Children is a primary and preventive health, dental and mental health benefit program for eligible North Dakota children. These children are from working families who do not qualify for government-funded medical assistance programs and whose parents cannot afford private health insurance. Because BCBSND donates 100 percent of the administrative costs as its corporate donation, all funds donated to Caring for Children go directly to serve enrolled children.
The North Dakota Caring Foundation operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is privately funded by foundations, churches, individuals, businesses and civic organizations.
