NMIC promotes Mary Walker to director of Compliance and Enterprise Ethics

FARGO, N.D. — Mary Walker has been promoted to director of Compliance and Enterprise Ethics at Noridian Mutual Insurance Company (NMIC). NMIC offers quality health care coverage as Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota as a licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.

In this role, Walker serves as the NMIC Compliance Officer and is responsible for implementing and maintaining the NMIC Compliance and Ethics program to promote compliant practices and ethical behavior throughout the enterprise. She is also accountable for oversight of the Special Investigations Unit, which is responsible for the prevention and detection of fraud, waste and abuse both internally and externally, and determining the proper remedial action for issues identified.

She joined NMIC in 2012 as manager in Compliance and Ethics.

Walker received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and French from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, and a bachelor of science degree in legal assistance from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. She also earned a master's degree in business management from the University of Mary, Bismarck.

Prior to joining NMIC, she had 25 years of experience in life insurance and banking compliance roles.
