Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND), Fargo, has been awarded the contract to administer the North Dakota University System (NDUS) student health plan. All university system students who meet minimum credit requirements as defined by the NDUS are eligible for the student health plan. More than 48,000 students are currently enrolled in the state's 11 higher education institutions: University of North Dakota, Grand Forks; North Dakota State University, Fargo, Dickinson State University, Valley City State University, Mayville State University, Bismarck State College, Williston State College, Minot State University, North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton; Lake Region State College, Devils Lake, and Dakota College, Bottineau.
Eligible students will receive a more comprehensive benefits package than previously offered because BCBSND's Student Blue health plan complies with all Affordable Care Act regulations. In addition, students will have broad access to care through BCBSND's participating providers in North Dakota and through its nationwide BlueCard network. Students will also have access to personal, local service at any of the eight BCBSND service offices located across the state, together with dedicated on-campus wellness consultants.
"We are excited to bring local service to all students in North Dakota's university system," said Judd Wagner, chief marketing officer at BCBSND. "Our goal is to engage these students in their own personal health and wellness. We will have our dedicated wellness consultants available on the campuses, plus students have online access to our comprehensive wellness portal at healthybluend.com."
BCBSND will administer the three-year contract. Student Blue single coverage begins at $62.50 per month. Eligible students can enroll online at www.StudentBlueND.com.
