BCBSND Sponsors Summer & Water Wellness Day with CHI Lisbon Health
FARGO – On June 18 from 4-7 p.m. at the Lisbon Swimming Pool, the public is invited to enjoy the first annual Summer & Water Wellness Day. The Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota's Caring Foundation and CHI Lisbon Health, in partnership with the NDSU Extension office, Lisbon Park Board, Family Medical Clinic, and Ransom County Public Health are sponsoring the event.
Through the BCBSND Caring Foundation's Rural Health Grant Program, the Lisbon Swimming Pool has purchased water aerobic equipment, which will be used during the event in mini-sessions, previewing the water aerobics classes that will be offered regularly through the pool season. Additionally, CHI Lisbon Health, along with its partners, will be offering education on skin protection, healthy eating, hydration in the heat, water safety and drowning prevention. This event is a can't miss for families and individuals alike. Prizes will be given for attending an aerobics mini-session and visiting wellness education booths. A grand prize drawing will be held at 6:30 p.m. Grand Prize winners must be present to win. The Lisbon Pool Preservers will be hosting a fundraising meal during this event to help with phase 3 zero entry wading pool fundraising efforts. Taco in a bag, fruit cups, and bars will be served for the meal.
Summer Water & Wellness Day is a kickoff for the larger goal of an expanded, regularly occurring, water aerobics program at the Lisbon Swimming Pool.
According to Sierra DeVries, a Nurse Practitioner of Family Medicine at CHI Lisbon Health, "Preventive medicine is key in today's health care system access. The grant from BCBSND will help benefit the community of Lisbon by promoting physical activity in a fun and engaging way."
Caring Foundation Manager Amber Blomberg shared her excitement, "We are thrilled to help Lisbon start out with the Summer & Water Wellness Day and make this first-of-its-kind event come into fruition."
