BCBSND Awarded Best Place to Work in IT

Fargo, N.D. — IDG Insider Pro and Computerworld named Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) to 2021 list of 100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology. BCBSND was recognized number 23 among small organization on the Best Places to Work in IT list. This award recognized the 100 top organizations that challenge their IT staffs while providing great benefits and compensation.

Insider Pro and Computerworld from IDF conduct an annual survey to identify the 100 best places to work for IT. Nominees were asked to provide statistical data on employment as well as benefits and program information for the IT department and entire organization.

In January of 2021, candidates were provided a 52-question survey to complete. Topics covered in the employee survey included satisfaction with compensation and benefits, training and development programs, and work/life balance. Nominations were accepted in November out of 202 qualified organizations. These qualifications included:

  • 300 total employees or more
  • U.S. headquarters
  • Minimum of 30 IT employees in the U.S.
  • 50% of IT employees based in the U.S.

“Despite the overwhelming obstacles the pandemic has created for many businesses, IT has managed to thrive and, in fact, become more essential in the workplace. Attracting and retaining top IT talent to research, deploy and maintain technology has never been more critical,” said Kate Hoy, editor of IDG’s Insider Pro. “Companies that have earned a spot on the Insider Pro and Computerworld 2021 Best Places to Work in IT list have been able to foster nimble and flexible work environments—while continuing to keep competitive compensation and benefits steady. Additionally, they foster a spirit of diversity, social responsibility, training and innovation.”

Mike Error, vice president of IT and chief information officer at BCBSND, says, “Making it on this list is a great honor and recognition for BCBSND. I am proud of all the hard work everyone in the IT department does to make this place so special.”
