MICHIGAN, N.D. – Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) Caring Foundation awarded Nelson County Health System a grant to help support the City of Michigan in creating a compliant playground for the children. The new ADA compliant playground set features a baby swing, slides, climbing wall, big double swing that multiple kids can use at a time and much more; bringing a much needed facelift and upgrade.
Executive Director of Nelson County Health Services Foundation, Kenzie Engen states, “The previous playground equipment was 40 years old, was in rough shape and structurally unsafe for children. We are excited for the new playground equipment and all the fun it will offer various youth age groups from 8 months and up.”
Sarah Anderson, Michigan Park Board Member exclaims, “We are so grateful for the support from the community and BCBSND Caring Foundation. The fundraising efforts and this grant have been key in making this playground possible. In the coming years, we hope to continue to keep adding things to the playground.”
BCBSND Caring Foundation Manager, Amber Blomberg states, “Playgrounds are essential for communities as they provide children with a safe place to be themselves, learn through play, enjoy the outdoors and develop physical and social benefits. They also attract young families to the community. Kids are our future.
