Fargo, N.D. – This spring, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) Caring Foundation is teaming up with the FlexWork Sports T.J. Hockenson Youth Football Camp to help more local youth access a high-energy, confidence-building experience that goes beyond football skills and sends a powerful message about mental well-being.
Hosted by FlexWork Sports and led by tight-end T.J. Hockenson and other skilled coaches, the camp brings young athletes together for a morning of teamwork, resilience and fun, while reinforcing that mental health is an important part of overall health.
Partnering to expand access and support well-being
Through its partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley, the BCBSND Caring Foundation is providing complimentary camp registrations for youth who might otherwise face barriers to participation. This collaboration helps ensure more local families can benefit from a positive, supportive athletic experience.
“We believe everyone should have access to opportunities that help kids build confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging,” said Amber Blomberg, executive director of the BCBSND Caring Foundation. “Sports can be a powerful way to support both mental well-being and a sense of belonging, and partnerships like this help extend those benefits to even more youth.”
In addition to supporting access, the Caring Foundation team will be onsite connecting with families, sharing practical mental health and resilience tips, and encouraging conversations that help reduce stigma. This outreach underscores the importance of mental health and gives parents and caregivers accessible tools they can use on and off the field.
