Richard Vetter, M.D.
Dr. Richard Vetter is a family practice specialist and the chief medical officer at Essentia Health in Fargo. He has served as a director on the Board since 2020.
Richard has experience in integrated health system operations, rural healthcare, multi-specialty group practice management, physician compensation, strategic planning, organizational governance, foundation development/fundraising and public advocacy. He is a clinical assistant professor of family medicine at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and serves as the volunteer medical director at First Choice Clinic.
Richard has served as president for the ND Academy of Family Physicians and for the ND Academy of Family Physicians Foundation. Additionally, he has served as past chair on the Dakota Medical Foundation Board of Directors and currently serves as chair of Essentia Health’s Physician Compensation Committee. He was named ND Family Physician of the Year in 2009 and Best of the Valley Family Health Physician in 2013 and 2014.
Richard earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.
