BCBSND expands vaccination coverage to pharmacies

Expansion will increase member access to vaccinations ultimately improving North Dakota's vaccination rate

FARGO — Today Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) will begin covering vaccinations members receive at their local participating pharmacy. Providing members with access to low-cost vaccines at their local pharmacy improves convenience for members, and also helps to improve vaccination rates throughout the state.

Vaccine availability is unique to each pharmacy. Members should check with their local pharmacy to learn more about how and when vaccines will be available.

BCBSND members may receive the following vaccinations at participating pharmacies:

  • Influenza
  • Pneumovax®
  • Zostavax®
  • Diphtheria-Tetanus Combinations (Toxoids)
  • Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
  • Measles Mumps and Rubella Virus (MMR)
  • Meningitis
  • Tetanus
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)

Vaccinations will be administered by an onsite, trained clinician according to state regulations. Members should bring their ID card to their pharmacy and may also be responsible for applicable cost sharing amounts associated with their plan; however most vaccinations are considered preventive and covered at no cost. Vaccinations at a member's doctor's office or at a local public health facility will continue to be covered by BCBSND plans.
