Blue Cross Blue Shield celebrates National Walk @ Lunch Day

Fargo – Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) will celebrate National Walk @ Lunch Day, Wednesday, April 24, motivating its employees and all North Dakotans to enjoy an active lunch break.  BCBSND is dedicated to providing wellness opportunities like National Walk @Lunch Day to its members and employees through its Worksite Wellness program.

"Walking at a pace of three miles per hour greatly decreases the potential of developing conditions such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes," said Mike Carlson, Director of Employer Consulting and Wellness of BCBSND. "Simply taking a walk provides a simple, safe and effective form of exercise."

BCBS Companies across the country are taking part in the event. "Tens of thousands of Americans will join together to get away from their desks and on their feet for a 30-minute walk. We hope that our participation in National Walk @ Lunch Day encourages other workplaces throughout North Dakota to do the same," said Carlson.
