Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) has earned accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a nationally recognized marker of quality and operational excellence.
The accreditation supports the organization’s 2026 strategy and reflects its commitment to delivering high‑quality, member‑focused care. NCQA updates its standards annually, and meeting those benchmarks shows BCBSND’s dedication to continuous improvement.
“Receiving this accreditation is a testament to the great work of many teams across BCBSND,” said Market President Lacey Bergh. “It shows our processes, standards and commitment to service align with national expectations and reinforces our focus on delivering better experiences and better outcomes for the people we serve.”
Achieving NCQA accreditation required collaboration across the organization. Teams in quality, population health, utilization management, provider contracting, pharmacy, provider engagement, credentialing, the Customer Contact Center and several supporting groups played key roles in meeting the standards.
Their collective work reinforces BCBSND’s mission to help North Dakotans access reliable, high‑value care.
“This accreditation reflects the strong foundation our teams have already built,” said Ali Bergquist, director of quality management. “Many of the standards we met were practices we’ve been committed to for years. NCQA simply helps us apply them more consistently, so members experience the same reliable support every time they interact with us.”
The accreditation recognizes BCBSND’s strong approach to member service and care delivery, including responsive customer support and easy‑to‑understand benefit materials. It further demonstrates its commitment to preventive and chronic care through regular screening reminders and ongoing support for conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and heart disease.
BCBSND continues to advance quality in other areas as well. In 2025, it was among the first health plans in the nation to receive Mental Health Parity Accreditation, underscoring its commitment to making mental health care as accessible as physical health care.
The organization has also received recent recognition, including being named a Best Place to Work by Prairie Business and earning community leadership honors from United Way of Cass-Clay. BCBSND has been highlighted by national outlets, including USA Today, for its service culture and community impact.
