FARGO, N.D. – Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) Caring Foundation is excited to once again open applications for this year's Health Profession and Healthcare Leader Scholarship. Students may apply for one of 30 Health Profession Scholarships, offering $2,500 in assistance for those pursuing degrees in nursing or health care related fields. Students may also apply for the $5,000 Healthcare Leader Scholarship, made to support the next generation of North Dakotan health leadership.

Entering its eighth year, the BCBSND Caring Foundation's Health Scholarships were created to tackle the critical health care professional shortage in North Dakota. To date, 192 scholarships have been given to support the education of future health care professionals.

"The Health Scholarships are vital," said Amber Blomberg, the Caring Foundation's executive director. "They not only support the dreams of aspiring health care professionals, but they also ensure a healthier future for our communities."

To learn more or apply to the Health Profession Scholarship, visit the BCBSND Caring Foundation Health Scholarship page. Applicants must be a resident of North Dakota, be in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.25 or higher and be attending a North Dakota institution. Other restrictions apply.

The Health Profession Scholarships are just one way that BCBSND Caring Foundation is supporting the future of healthcare. The BCBSND Caring Foundation throughout the years has helped fund various health profession education initiatives, such as funding synthetic cadavers for University of Mary and simulation and ancillary equipment for Dakota College at Bottineau. These programs allow students in North Dakota colleges and universities to train in safe, but realistic environments that advance training and education for future health care professionals.
