Behavioral health is fundamental to overall health and community resilience. We recognize that untreated behavioral health challenges, including mental illness and substance use disorders, create barriers. By investing in programs that expand access to care, reduce stigma and integrate behavioral health into broader health initiatives, it ensures that individuals and families — especially in underserved and rural communities — have the resources and support they need to thrive.
Factors such as housing, education, employment and access to nutritious food are crucial for overall well-being. Health is influenced not only by medical care but also by the conditions in which people live, work, and play. By supporting programs that address the root causes, we aim to reduce disparities, improve health outcomes and create stronger communities. Our grants support evidence-based programs that connect North Dakotans to necessary resources, and we work collaboratively with partners to implement innovative solutions.
We focus on preventive health to improve communities through proactive measures by addressing risk factors before they become major health concerns. We work to empower individuals to take control of their well-being by investing in education, early intervention, access to screenings, wellness programs and more. These decrease the prevalence of chronic disease, lower health care costs and improve quality of life.
