Form 1095-B mailed to fully insured members

Even though the federal tax penalty for not being enrolled in health insurance was lifted beginning with the 2019 tax year, BCBSND has mailed out the Form 1095-B to each fully insured member for the year 2020. Individuals do not need Form 1095-B to file their taxes, and insurers are not required to mail it to members. Instead, health plans must simply have the form available by Mar. 2, 2021. If an employer’s plan is self-funded, those members would be directed to the employer to provide a similar form. BCBSND does not provide tax advice, and if members have additional tax related questions please consult with a tax professional.
