The Affordable Care Act (ACA) imposes a fee (last issued in 2014), referred to as the Health Insurance Tax, for any carriers who provide health insurance for US health risks. This tax will be calculated on the prior year net annual premiums and will be assessed in aggregate.
To cover the fee from the ACA, the Health Insurance Tax is expected to increase BCBSND premiums by an estimated 3%. We will be sure to communicate how the tax will impact your specific plan premiums as we approach 2020.
