Worksite Wellness Summit in Bismarck focused on mental health

Mental health in the workplace. While it’s typically under-addressed, it was the main topic at the BCBSND Worksite Wellness Summit – West on May 14 in Bismarck.

More than 175 attendees heard about the fascinating work of keynote speaker and author Kevin R. Briggs, a retired California Highway Patrol sergeant who has diffused more than 200 suicide attempts on the Golden Gate Bridge. They also learned his principles for creating an emotionally healthy work environment.

From Rory Beil, Clay County Public Health promotion manager, attendees received insights on recognizing the effects of upbringing that follow people into the workplace. They also heard tips on promoting positive mental health practices at work.
