Providers can expect to start seeing Medicaid Expansion coordination of benefits (COB) claims processed correctly as secondary. This pertains to the known issue of claims not crossing over properly to the Medicaid Expansion secondary plan when the member also has a primary BCBSND plan.
This applies to claims processed Oct. 13, 2022, and after. Providers can expect to see impacted claims processed under the secondary by May 31, 2024. This is a manual process and will create new claim numbers under the Medicaid Expansion plan, which will then be coordinated with the primary plans claim.
Updated Revision: As of Sept. 26, 2024, a secondary recovery has been submitted to catch any additional claims that may exist, the applicable claims will be processed as secondary by Oct. 31, 2024. If a provider feels they have any additional claims that did not process accordingly, please work with the Medicaid Expansion Provider Service Center directly.
Impacted providers will receive new remittances with the updated processing information. If providers need to amend these claims, the standard claim correction/adjustment process can be followed, as necessary. Information on claim corrections can be found in the Medicaid Expansion provider manual.
