We want to let providers know of an upcoming change to the Availity Essentials Provider Portal within Authorization & Referrals section as we implement phase 2 of PA Checkpoint, BCBSND’s precertification tool.
As described in our previous PA Checkpoint HealthCare News (HCN) articles and the Quarterly Provider Insights, this tool will be integrated within the Availity Essentials provider portal to provide an upfront notification whether a procedure code needs further precertification review or not. The implementation of this tool into Availity Essentials will go live April 20, 2024.
We will add this information to the current step-by-step Predictal resource guide to help you navigate this change, once complete, notification will be provided via HealthCare News.
Our NextBlue of North Dakota, Medicare Advantage plan and Federal Employee (FEP) lines of business will not be part of this change.
