BCBSND Caring Foundation Awards 2025 Rural Provider Health Grants

Nineteenth grant cycle provides rural health providers and their communities opportunities to benefit health

The BCBSND Caring Foundation recently announced their 2025 BUILD Rural Provider Health Grants which aim to make an impact by addressing social drivers of health (SDOH) at the local level in rural North Dakota. The primary mission of these grants is to cultivate a future of health equity and well-being for all.

Applicants for these grants continue to raise the bar – and demonstrate the need – for collaboration that puts ideas into action. The result is creating opportunity and awareness that positively benefits North Dakotans’ health. Receiving $5,000-$7,500 in funding were these 2025 grantees:

  • Altru Health Foundation – Grand Forks/Devils Lake: Providing rural patients with a more accessible, high-quality dialysis experience, helping them maintain their health without the burden of extensive travel.
  • CommonSpirit Health – Dickinson: For patients facing a common diagnosis or common comorbidities they are implementing Care Kits to decrease barriers for these patients, reduce re-admission rates and increase health outcomes.
  • Emmons County Public Health – Linton: Providing Emmons County's rural schools with health care education, screenings, safety education and support services as well as establishing a supply of hygiene products for students if they are unable to afford them.
  • West River Health Services Foundation – Hettinger: Equipment for improved rural obstetrics care for patients.
  • Jamestown Regional Medical Center – Jamestown: A lactation pod will be added at Two Rivers Activity Center to improve support, comfort and resources for breastfeeding mothers.
  • Peer Vision for Mental Health – Minot: Development of veteran peer support aimed at rural areas in the North Central region of the state for improved mental health support and reduction in suicide rates.
  • Heart of America Medical Center – Rugby: Offering a variety of in-house and virtual fitness programs tailored at different age groups, as well as different community events, workshops and fitness challenges to reduce the effects of sedentary lifestyles.
  • Northland Health Centers – Turtle Lake: Providing essential resources — such as food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and school supplies — to students and their families facing hardships to alleviate barriers to learning and promote students' ability to focus, participate fully in school and enhance their long-term well-being.
