Clinical Practice Guidelines for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) adopted Clinical Practice Guidelines that are essential for our members' preventive, acute, chronic medical services and behavioral health needs. These guidelines are founded on evidence-based standards of care from specialty societies and national clinical organizations. BCBSND utilizes evidence-based clinical guidelines from nationally recognized sources to guide our quality and health management programs. They will be reviewed at least annually with input from health care providers and updated with significant new findings or advancements in evidence-based practices. The BCBSND Quality Management

Committee has reviewed and approved these current guidelines.

Providers can learn more about practice guidelines on our Clinical Practice Guidelines | BCBSND webpage.

These guidelines additionally support decision-making in patient care, though recommendations from other national entities may vary. They serve as general guidelines and are not intended to replace clinical judgment in individual cases. Recognized sources may include professional medical associations (e.g., American Medical Association), voluntary health organizations (e.g., American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association), and the National Institutes of Health. Providers are encouraged to make decisions based on their judgment and the most current evidence-based information available.
