Reminder: Sending Medical Records to BCBSND

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) would like to remind providers of the importance of including the BCBSND Medical Record Request barcoded letter with medical records sent to us. This is considered best practice and the most efficient method to submit records.

When medical records are received with the BCBSND barcode request letter, it helps to efficiently attach those records directly to the claim or inquiry with minimal manual intervention.

In cases where a provider cannot find or attach that letter with the barcode, the Medical Record Submission form from on our website should be utilized. However, using this form requires additional review, which can cause delays if workloads are high. Whether you use the barcode request letter or the Medical Record Submission form, ensure it is placed on top as the first page.

As always, medical records submitted without either of the above forms will not be reviewed and will be considered unsolicited.
