Like many organizations across the country navigating a challenging Medicare Advantage environment, NextBlue of North Dakota has made the difficult decision not to offer individual or employer group sponsored Medicare Advantage plans for the 2027 plan year.
Current NextBlue Individual Medicare Advantage members will continue to have access to their 2026 plan benefits and provider network through December 31, 2026. We will monitor the Medicare Advantage market for future opportunities to offer sustainable, competitive plans.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) will continue to offer Medicare Supplement and MedicareBlue Rx Part D plans in 2027. In addition, Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield Plan (Blue Plan) members will continue to have access to our provider network when living in or traveling to North Dakota as part of the BlueCard® Program.
NextBlue Medicare Advantage contract amendment
Included below is the contract amendment, which updates the NextBlue Medicare Advantage Agreement and ensures continued access to North Dakota providers for BlueCard members, for your review and download.
Contract amendment
NextBlue of North Dakota Insurance Company is informing providers who have a NextBlue Medicare Advantage Agreement of an amendment to the NextBlue Medicare Advantage Program Agreement (“Agreement”). Amendments to the Agreement that are not promulgated by compliance with applicable laws or regulations are allowed with sixty (60) day advance notice to Provider Groups and can be distributed via newsletters, such as HealthCare News.
Therefore, effective December 31, 2026, NextBlue Medicare Advantage Agreements are automatically amended as follows:
Assignment. Neither Party shall assign any rights or delegate any obligations hereunder without the written consent of the other party, provided, however, that any reference to Plan herein shall include any successor in interest and that Plan may assign its duties, rights and interests under this Agreement in whole or in part to a Plan affiliate or may delegate any and all of its duties to a third party in the ordinary course of business.
To the extent that there is any conflict between the terms of the Agreement and the terms of this Amendment, the terms of this Amendment will prevail.
Except as expressly amended and supplemented by this Amendment, all other terms and conditions of the Agreement shall remain in full force and effect.
