BCBSND & Cambia Announcement: More Value for You and Your Patients

Today, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) and Cambia Health Solutions (Cambia) announced a strategic affiliation designed to improve access to care and enhance our capabilities—while preserving the local relationships you count on.

Established in 1995 by four Blue Cross Blue Shield licensees, Cambia is a nonprofit health solutions company that provides management and shared services for local Blue plans across the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West, all connected by a common focus on delivering more for members.

With this affiliation, Cambia and BCBSND will unify operations, sharing both teams and resources. While this is a new step forward, many of the things you value about our relationship and services will not change. Provider networks will still be contracted locally, and the employees who service BCBSND contracts will be locally based with deep knowledge of North Dakota’s provider landscape. Additionally, members retain their current coverage and will continue to use their BCBSND insurance card just as they do today.

This affiliation allows us to better support providers like you, with a focus on:

• Improved Experience: The affiliation enables more collaborative investment in whole-person care solutions such as advanced primary care, mobile platform services, expanded tools for maternal and family health, and programs tailored to local providers and communities.
• Expanded Capabilities: Shared technology and data will create new opportunities for collaboration that support more accessible, understandable, and actionable information to support member care.
• Transformative Solutions to Improve Outcomes: By combining resources across operations and technology, the affiliation will expand capabilities, provide cost savings, and enable investment in solutions that improve health outcomes.
