Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) reminds providers that effective Sept. 1, 2024, precertification/prior authorization fax requests will be limited. BCBSND requests that authorizations are entered through Availity Essentials.
As a reminder, faxes received on or after Sept. 1, may be cancelled unless one or more of the situations below apply:
- Provider received an error in Availity and Availity ticket number is referenced on the fax cover sheet.
- It is a Medicaid Expansion inpatient discharge notification (see provider manual for more information on this process).
- When Availity Essentials or Predictal has downtime.
- BCBSND will notify providers if this occurs and utilize a fax option if necessary.
