Do you get your insurance through work?

Employer health plans are not always the same as the health plans individuals and families purchase on their own. Companies often customize their employees' health plans to include wellness benefits as well as other cost sharing and coverage options.

If you get your health insurance through your employer, plan and benefit details are available in a secure website – the online Member Services portal. Your coverage and health plan usage information can be found in this portal. It is available anytime and anywhere you have internet access.

What you can do online

  • View your plan documents for coverage and benefit details
  • See how much of your deductible you've met
  • Sign up for or view your paperless Explanation of Benefits (EOB)
  • Print a new ID card
  • View your claims
  • Rate your doctor
  • And more

Contact your employer

If an event happens that requires changes to your plan, like marriage or the birth of a child, you should contact your health plan administrator at work. Typically, you need to notify your employer within 30 days of these events.

Personal information
When your personal information changes, it's best to notify your health plan administrator to ensure your plan documents get sent to the right person and place. Examples include:

  • Moving to a new address
  • Changing your legal name

Add coverage
You can add new coverage when:

  • You get married and need to add your spouse and/or stepchildren to your plan
  • You need to add coverage for the birth, adoption or legal guardianship obtained for a child
  • You received a court order to cover new dependents

Terminate coverage
Coverage should be terminated when:

  • Your dependent turns 26 and is no longer eligible for coverage on your plan
  • The death of a member on the plan occurs
  • Your divorce is finalized and you need to remove a spouse from your plan
