The best Medicare plan for you: Plan F + Rx (Part D)

There are other personal circumstances that may change this recommendation, including receiving employer sponsored retiree benefits or having specific medical circumstances to consider. Plan F overview

Medicare supplement Plan F is a popular supplement because it minimizes any out-of-pocket health care costs. It covers your Medicare deductibles, plus copays and coinsurance. 

As of January 1, 2020, Medicare supplements sold to people who are new to Medicare** are no longer allowed to cover the Part B deductible. Because of this, Plan F isn't available if you're new to Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.

If you already have Plan F and are covered prior to January 1, 2020, you'll be able to keep your plan. If you were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020, but haven't enrolled yet, you may be able to buy this plan.

Plan Features

  • Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs
  • Additional days of hospitalization (up to 365 days after benefits are used up)
  • Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment
  • Medicare Part B excess charges ("excess charge" means that you are charged more than the Medicare-approved amount)
